Create Connection with Dial-Up Networking (NT4)
- Click the Start menu button
at the bottom left corner of your screen.
- Move the mouse pointer to Programs,
another menu will open.
- Move the mouse pointer to Accessories,
another menu will open.
- Click Dial-Up Networking.
- If you do not have Dial-Up Networking entries
present, the setup wizard will appear as below. If you already have
phone book entries and do not see the window below, move to Step
5.
- For the name of the phonebook entry, enter Net2U.
- Click the Next button.
- Place a tick in the box titled I am calling
the Internet.
- Click the Next button.
- In the box titled Phone number,
enter the Net2U Local Access Number closest to where you live. If
you are dialling STD, please be sure to include the area code of the
number you are dialling.
- Click the Next button.
- This window informs you that you have finished
creating your new phonebook entry.
- Click the Finish button to save
your settings.
- You now need to confgure the Dial-Up Networking
phonebook entry you have created. Click the Start
menu, click Programs, then Accessories,
and finally, click Dial-Up Networking.
- The Net2U entry should be highlighted. Click
the More button, and then select Edit entry
and modem properties.
- The Basic tab will contain the name of your phonebook
entry, the number you will be dialling, and a modem with which to
dial Net2U. If you need to change the Net2U Access Number, this is
where you do so.
- If the basic entries are correct, click the Server
tab located at the top of the window.
- Ensure that the Dial-up server type
is set to PPP: Windows NT, Windows 95 Plus, Internet.
- Place a tick in the TCP/IP box
and make sure that the IPX/SPX compatible and NetBEUI
boxes are not ticked.
- Place a tick next to Enable software
compression.
- Click the TCP/IP Settings button.
- Select Server assigned IP address.
- Select Server assigned name server addresses.
- Ensure that the Primary WINS
and econdary WINS are set to 0.0.0.0.
- Place a tick in both Use IP header compression
and Use default gateway on remote network.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Script tab and select
None.
- Click the OK button and exit
Dial-Up Networking.
- Windows NT4 is now configured to connect to Net2U.
