Create connection Internet Explorer 5 Internet Connection Wizard for Windows

Step 1 of 18
  • NOTE: The Internet Connection Wizard will automatically start the first time you try to run either Internet Explorer or Outlook Express. If this is the first time you are running either of these programs, move straight to Step 3.
  • If you already have Internet Explorer installed on your system but want to create a new connection, start from here.
  • Double click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.
  • Double click on the Control Panel icon.
  • Double click on the Internet Options icon.

  • Click on the Connections tab located at the top of the window.
  • Click the Setup button.

  • Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I connect through a local area network (LAN).
  • Click the Next button.

  • Select I connect through a phone line and a modem.
  • Click the Next button.

  • Type your local Net2U dial in number in the Telephone number box.
  • Remove the tick from the box next to Dial using the area code and country code by clicking on it.
  • Click the Advanced button.

  • Select PPP (Point to Point Protocol) in the Connection type area.
  • Select None in the Logon procedure area.
  • Click the Addresses tab located at the top of the window.

  • Select Internet service provider automatically provides one in the IP address area.
  • Select My ISP automatically provides a Domain Name Server (DNS) address in the DNS server address area.
  • Click the OK button.

  • Click the Next button.

  • In the User name box enter your Net2U username. Enter the username in lower case letters.
  • In the Password box enter your Net2U password. Enter the password in lower case letters.
  • Click the Next button.

  • For the Connection name enter Net2U.
  • Click the Next button.

  • If you do not want to configure Outlook Express as your email program, select No then, click the Next button and move to Step 18.
  • If you do want to set up Outlook Express as your email program select Yes then click the Next button. Move to the next step.

  • For the Connection name enter Net2U.
  • Click the Next button.

  • Select Create a new Internet mail account. Do not worry if there are other email accounts listed in the box underneath the two selctions.
  • Click the Next button.

  • In the Display name box enter your real or business name. You can use combinations of upper and lower case letters here. You can also include spaces.
  • Click the Next button.

  • In the E-mail address box, enter username@net2u.com.au where username is your Net2U username. Enter this email address in lower case letters.
  • Click the Next button.

  • In the box titled My incoming mail server is a select POP3 from the drop down list.
  • In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server box enter mail.net2u.com.au.
  • In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box enter mail.net2u.com.au.
  • Click the Next button.

  • In the Account name box enter your Net2U username in lower case letters.
  • In the Password box enter your Net2U password in lower case letters.
  • Click the Next button.
Step 18 of 18
  • The Internet Connection Wizard is now completed. If you want to connect to the Internet immediately place a tick next to To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box then click finish. Click the Finish button.
  • If you do not want to connect immediately, remove the tick from the box then click the Finish button.
