Configure Internet Explorer 5 proxy settings for Windows

Step 1 of 5
  • Double click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.
  • Double click on the Control Panel icon.
  • Double click on the Internet Options icon.
  • Click on the Connections tab located at the top of the window.
  • Place a dot next to Always dial my default connection.
  • Place a tick next to Perform system security check before dialing.
  • Click the Settings button which is located under the Add and Remove buttons.

  • Place a tick next to Use a proxy server.
  • In the Address box enter the name of the proxy server nearest to your location.
  • In the Port box enter the number 80.
  • Place a tick next to Bypass proxy server for local addresses.
  • Click the Advanced button located to the right of the Port box.
Step 3 of 5
  • Type the name of your nearest proxy server into the box titled HTTP.
  • Place a tick next to Use the same proxy server for all protocols.
  • Click the OK button.
Step 4 of 5
  • Click the OK button.
Step 5 of 5
  • Click the Apply button.
  • Click the OK button.
