Configure TCP/IP for Windows 95/98

Step 1 of 6
  • Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
  • Double-click the Control Panel icon.
  • Double-click the Network icon.
  • Double click on the entry TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter.
  • If you are using Windows 98, you may have a warning message displayed after double clicking on the TCP/IP entry, click the OK button on this message.

  • Click the IP Address tab located at the top of the window.
  • Select Obtain an IP address automatically.

  • Click the WINS Configuration tab located at the top of the window.
  • Select Disable WINS Resolution.
Step 4 of 6
  • Click on the Gateway tab located at the top of the window.
  • Ensure that there is nothing in the New gateway and Installed gateways boxes.
Step 5 of 6
  • Click on the DNS Configuration tab located at the top of the window.
  • Select Disable DNS.
  • Click the OK button.
Step 6 of 6
  • Click the OK button. This will save your TCP/IP settings.
  • You will be asked to restart your computer, click OK on the restart message.
