Create Connection with Internet Setup Assistant for Macintosh

Step 1 of 16
  • Click the Apple icon at the top left corner of the screen. A drop down menu will open.
  • Move the mouse pointer to Internet Access, another menu will open.
  • Click on Internet Setup Assistant.

  • Click the Yes button.

  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • Name this new connection Net2U.
  • Place a dot next to Modem towards the bottom of the window.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • Select the type of modem that is installed in your computer from the drop down list titled Modem. There should only be one modem listed.
  • Select the port that your modem is connected to from the drop down list titled Port. Usually you should have Modem Port selected.
  • Place a dot next to Tone for the type of dialing.
  • Do not place a tick next to Ignore dial tone.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • In the first box in this window enter the phone number for your nearest Net2U Local Access Point.
  • In the second box enter your Net2U username. Make sure you enter the username in lower case letters.
  • In the password box enter your Net2U password. Make sure you enter the password in lower case letters.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • Place a dot next to No for use of connect scripts.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • As you do not have a permanent IP address, place a dot next to No.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • In the first box, you have two sets of DNS numbers to enter. First type 203.2.75.132 then press the Enter key on your keyboard.
  • In the same box that you entered the first set of numbers, type 198.142.0.51.
  • In the Domain Name box, enter Net2U.com.au. Make sure you enter this domain name in lower case letters.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • In the first box enter your email address for Net2U. You should enter username@net2u.com.au where, username is your Net2U username.
  • Enter your email address in lower case letters.
  • Enter your Net2U password in the second box. Make sure you enter the password in lower case letters.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • The email account to be entered into the first box is your Net2U email address - identical to what you typed in Step 10.
  • The email host to be entered in the second box is mail.net2u.com.au. Enter this host name in lower case letters.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • The newsgroup server name to be entered into this box is news.net2u.com.au. Enter this server name in lower case letters.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • Select Yes for use of a proxy server.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • Place a tick next to HTTP then enter cache1.Net2U.com.au for the proxy server and 80 for the port number.
  • Place a tick next to Gopher then enter cache1.Net2U.com.au for the proxy server and 80 for the port number.
  • Place a tick next to FTP then enter cache1.Net2U.com.au for the proxy server and 80 for the port number.
  • Do not place a tick next to Socks.
  • Click the right hand arrow at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • All the information to create your connection has now been gathered. Click the Go Ahead button to finalise the settings.
Step 16 of 16
  • The Internet Setup Assistant is now configured.
  • The Internet Setup Assistant will now attempt to connect to the Internet. If you do not want to connect to the Internet at this time, click the Quit button and close this window.
